Babylonian history is full of writings about honey. It is referenced in the Bible "the land of milk and honey", that was the description for Israel. It has been referred to as the" nectar of the gods". Now that is some high praise.
Honey was used as currency, tributes, offerings and rent.
We can't say for sure if the honey bee is native to America or Central America as they both have extensive writings on ancient beekeeping.
Honey has been used in food, cement, furniture, polish, varnish and best of all medicine.
1/12 of a teaspoon of honey is made by a single bee in its life. That is a lot of work. With that knowledge I now have a new found admiration for the honey bee and value it much more.
